Third visit to Bled...and on to Goriska Brda

Last weekend, I took the train with Rebecca and an Australian named Chris, to Bled.  We had a Pad Thai Party at Miha's (Rebecca's boyfriend) house.  He lives in a village very close to Bled.  The next day, we took a trip to an amazing wine country region close to the border of Italy, called Goriska Brda.  It is about a 1.5 hr drive directly, but Miha took us on the scenic route, over the mountains.  So it took us about 4 hours to get there, but it was absolutely amazing.  This day was probably up there with being one of my best days in Slovenia.

Most of these awesome pictures were taken by Miha, and they wouldn't be this awesome if it wasn't for his fabulous tripod.  Because Miha took so many great pictures, these are only from the first part of our trip.  You'll have to wait to see the rest another day.  But, since I've been so great at posting on my blog lately, maybe you won't have to wait toooo long!

This is a picture of Miha's village.   Amazing, right?

The Julian Alps.  We drove over these mountains.

Beautiful, clear, clean.  The Soca River.

So clean, you can drink it...

...or throw it.

More to come....

Second Visit to Bled....

Can you believe it?  I posted two days in a row.  Don't get used to it....

Zvonko and Nada also took me to Bled and we walked up to the castle and around the lake.  It was a beautiful day.

View from the castle.

Zvonko finished off this entire plate of wienerschnitzel.

There was an old printmaking shop in the castle....

Lep izlet.

My first visit to Bled

I know, it's been a while....  I'm only posting because I'm tired of the complaints....

Crazy story:  My mom met a couple while she was waiting at the doctor's office today, and they were from Slovenia!  She was telling them that this past weekend I visited a region called Goriska Brda (but I doubt she pronouned that right).  This couple was shocked because they have a home in Goriska Brda.  What a small world....

Anyway,  these pictures were taken a few weeks ago, when I went to Bled with my roommate Rebecca, and her boyfriend, Miha, who lives near Bled.  It was like a fairytale....

A swan that was trying to eat me.

This is a photo of my roommate, Rebecca, and me.  We are both from America, both worked at American Greetings, both of Slovene heritage, and now roommates.  We never met face to face until I came to Slovenia.  Almost a year and a half ago, a friend (Astrid!!!) from American Greetings told me about a girl named Rebecca who went to Slovenia to study the language.  I was jealous.  I started emailing Rebecca, and now we are roommates.  What a lovely story  :-)
